The Venture
Readiness Canvas

Six questions to sit with before your idea earns a name, a budget, or a website. Print it. Fill it in with a pen. Be honest with the answers.

01

The Question

What problem are you solving — and for whom? Name one person who has this problem today.

If you cannot name them, the idea is still abstract.

02

The Smallest Test

What is the cheapest, fastest way to test whether this works? No app. No funding. This week.

A paper prototype, a phone call, a landing page, a conversation at a chai stall.

03

The Evidence

How will you know it worked? Write the sentence you hope to say in three months.

If the sentence requires data you cannot collect, change the sentence.

04

The Audience

Name three people who would use this on a Tuesday afternoon. Not investors. Users.

If you cannot name three, the venture has a distribution problem before it has a product.

05

The Honest Bit

What are you choosing to ignore? What assumption, if wrong, kills the whole thing?

Write it down. The assumptions you refuse to name are the ones that get you later.

06

The Decision

Based on the answers above — ship it, shelve it, or kill it?

Shelving is honest. Killing is brave. Shipping without answering the above is neither.
